This week in English we have been writing reports all about ourselves. We talked about our family, school, hobbies, friends and things we like to do. We have also been busy writing about our memories of Northgate Primary School and things we are looking forward to in the future.
 
In Topic this week we have been looking at Brazil. We have been looking at the flag, wildlife and their music, we even got to make our own carnival mask.

This week in Caterpillar we got to find out which class we are going to be in next year! We spent a day getting to know our new teachers and classmates.

In Maths we have been looking at odd and even numbers. We used numicon and number lines to add and subtract numbers to investigate if there is a pattern with adding two odd numbers or two even numbers. 

In Topic we have been looking at France and Australia we even had ago at creating aboriginal art and writing fact files about France.

This week in Maths we have been looking at units of time such as seconds, minutes, hours, days and months. We have also been telling the time and drawing the hands on clock faces.

In English we have continued to look at Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We have been drawing ideas and writing stories about what our own characters might get up to in the inventing room.

In Topic we have been looking at India. We compared the weather in different Indian cities and we even got to try Indian food!

This week in caterpillars we have been reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and discussing the events in the book. We created our own characters and wrote our own little version of Charlie and the Chocolate factory.

 In Maths we have been identifying and describing 2D and 3D shapes and looking at lines of symmetry.

In Topic we have been looking at Italy and learning about the capital Rome and famous buildings. We had ago at making pizzas and drawing our own Da Vinci style portraits.

In Caterpillar's Class we have been working very hard doing Special Agent Training Service quizzes, which we have all done very well in.

We have also been continuing to look at World War 2 and even went on a school trip to Gressenhall where we were able to see and learn more about what it was like during the war.

This Week in English Caterpillars have been looking at Billy's Bucket by Kes Grey. Once we had read the book we used our imagination to plan a story and write a detailed caption about what we could see in our buckets. We used a thesaurus to help us create exciting adjectives.

In Maths we have been looking at Number and Place Value. We have learnt how to partition numbers in different ways.

This week in English Caterpillars have been watching The Coot Club. We then had ago at pretending to be Tom from the show and writing a recount of his adventures. We have also been writing postcards pretending we have been on a holiday to Norfolk and describing all the activities we could have been up to for example pond dipping, fishing, boat rides and bird watching.

In Maths we have been doing quizzes using subtraction, addition and place value.

In Topic we have been creating fact files about birds and insects that can be found on the broads. We also had ago at building birds nests.

This week in English Caterpillars have been busy creating a postcard inspired by the book Meerkat Mail. We had to write all about Sunny the meerkat's trip to Northgate Primary School. We used lots of verbs, adjectives and adverbs.

In Maths we have looking at place value and number facts. 
e.g. When you add 2 odd numbers the answer will always be an even number.

In Topic we have been looking at the Norfolk Broads and pond habitats.We also looked at the life cycle of pond animals such as tadpoles and butterfly's.

In English this week Caterpillars have been looking at Antony Browne books and his amazing illustrations.

Thursday was WORLD BOOK DAY! We all came to school in fancy dress as a character from a book, we all looked fantastic!








In Maths we have continued to look at length, mass and volume. We were able to measure different liquids and even measured our feet! We then went on to record and compare our findings using less than, more than and equals to (<  >  =).

In Topic we have been looking more at Norfolk. We have also planted bulbs into pots which we will be observing and recording how they grow over the next 6 weeks.

This week in Maths Caterpillars have been looking at measurement and time.We used a variety of equipment such as rulers, jugs and syringes to investigate length, height and weight making sure we used the correct terminology such as centimeters,meters, liters, millimeters and grams. We have also been looking at half past, o'clock, quarter past and quarter to.




In English we have been looking at riddles,we also had a chance to come up with a few of our own.

This week we have started a new Topic looking at Norfolk. We have been using maps and globes and using vocabulary such as continent, country, county and town.

This week in English we have looked at retrieving information from non-fiction books.We have looked at using adjectives to describe, expand and specify noun phrases and had ago at writing our own non chronological reports about school.

In Maths we have been using mathematical vocabulary to describe position,direction and movement of an object. We used vocabulary such as left, right, forward, backwards, whole turn, quarter turn, half turn, clockwise and anti-clockwise.

In Topic this week we got to paint our islands which we made last week, we even started to make houses and lighthouses to put on them.

In English this week we have been looking at alphabetical ordering. We have been using dictionary's to find the definition of words, we even had ago at writing our own definitions.

In Maths we have been looking at multiplication and division. We have been drawing arrays of dots and using number lines to help us solve questions. We also looked at how 3x4 is the same as 4x3 and that it can be represented as 3+3+3+3 or 4+4+4.

In Topic this week we have continued to look at Islands, we even got to make our own one! We used newspaper to create low and high land and then used mud rock to cover.
